How to Setup your Amazon Echo Dot

Setup Your Amazon Echo Dot!

Step 1: Download the Amazon Alexa App on your smartphone or tablet.

Step 2: Create your Amazon account if you don’t have it.

Step 5: Select the option “ Add a Device”.

Step 6: Then select the Amazon Echo option from the list.

Step 7: After that, select the Echo Dot from the next list.

Step 8: Now, you will enter the setup mode.

Step 9: The Alexa device will say, “Now in setup mode”. Make sure Alexa is ON showing orange ring light.

Step 10: Close the Alexa App, and go to WiFi settings on your phone or tablet.

Step 11: In the list of the available networks, look for the name like “Amazon-**”.

Step 12: So, connect your phone or tablet with this Amazon-named network.

Step 13: Now, again open the Alexa App.

Step 14: You will find the list of the available WiFi networks for your phone/tablet.

Step 15: Connect to your existing WiFi network, and enter the credentials when prompted.

Step 16: Once it will get connected, Alexa will respond, “Your Echo is Ready”.

Step 17: Orange ring light for Echo Dot will go off.

Step 18: Now, you can give commands to your Echo Dot by saying “ Alexa”.

If it will respond, then you have set it up successfully. Now, you can make the settings by just giving the commands verbally like changing the Wake message. You can also select the language that you want to use for further commands. Now, there is no need to make the settings on the phone or tablet. Just say it and it is done!

Setup Doesn’t Work!

You have followed all the steps very carefully, but still, the setup is not working on your Echo Dot device, then this could happen because of various reasons. So, check them out once to resolve the issue:

  • Make sure your device is connected to the right WiFi network.
  • You have used the latest version of the Alexa App during the setup.
  • Restart your Amazon Echo Dot device once.
  • Do the Factory Reset for your Amazon Echo Dot Device.
